Capturing the Moment
with Paper & Stuff
My creative journey began with my grandmother who was full of imagination and was always creating something. As the most influential person in my creative life, my grandmother instilled within me the love and desire to create. As long as I can remember, I loved to create - whether it was decorative letters, doodles, artistic book report covers, shadow boxes, mud pies or simply paper roses.
I use many different mediums, such as recycled paintings, cattle markers, watercolors, coffee, tea, fruit juice, feathers, leaves, flowers, grasses, porcupine quills, dirt and other organic materials. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process.
I draw inspiration from my daily journey, nature, faith in God, travels, other artists and my grandchildren, family & friends. I love to take photos and I attempt to use my own reference photos to draw inspiration to create my images. Each brightly-colored whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles & triumphs.
